Giving through Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR)

What is the Pre-Authorized Remittance Program?

The Anglican Diocese of Toronto has established a Pre-Authorized Remittance Program (PAR) to make it simple and easy for you to support of the work of your parish church through your regular parish offerings. Each month the same amount is automatically debited from your bank account and credited to St. Peter’s Erindale. It’s similar to the way many of us already arrange to manage bills and other regular payments. You enjoy the convenience of not having to write a cheque each week. And St. Peter’s benefits by receiving your gift consistently throughout the year, even when you are away.

How does PAR work?

You decide on the amount you wish to have debited from your account each month. Your gift is processed automatically on or about the 20th of each month and the amount will be credited to St. Peter’s parish account. You will continue to receive receipts for your gifts from St. Peter’s on a regular basis.

How do I enroll?

For more information about PAR, contact Nikhil Josh, our Envelope Secretary, through the Church Office at (905) 828-2095, or by email at par@stpeterserindale.org

Or print out this pdf of the enrolment form and return to the Church Office by mail, or in person. If you are an existing PAR donor and want to make changes to banking details or donation amount, print out this authorization change form. Please ensure it is addressed to the attention of the Envelope Secretary.

Who administers the Program?

The Stewardship Development Department of the United Church of Canada administers the PAR program for St. Peter’s Erindale.

What do I offer when the collection plate comes by?

You may choose to place a small PAR card in the offering plate as a token of your automatic gift. Cards are available from the church office or from a sidesperson on Sunday morning.

PAR may be a good choice for you. Please consider enrolling.

Gifts of Securities

You may own securities such as stocks, bonds or mutual funds that have appreciated in value since you bought them. If you donate these to St. Peter’s, you can beat the tax man by avoiding any capital gains tax that would be due if you sold them and donated the cash.

To do this, simply download and complete this Letter of Direction to the Diocese and fax it to your broker as well as to the contacts noted at RBC and the Diocese of Toronto. Your broker will transfer the securities to RBC who will immediately sell them and transmit the proceeds to the Diocese, who will forward them to us. You will receive a tax receipt for the sales value that we receive.

For further information, please contact the Incumbent by telephone at 905-828-2095, or speak to one of the Wardens.
