Handbell Choir

Handbells have been heard at St Peter’s Erindale in Mississauga since 1975, which is when Derrick Sawyer began to share his passion for bell ringing with the church. The St. Peter’s Handbell Choir is one of only two choirs in Ontario to ring unique Whitechapel handbells, manufactured in England. It has flourished over the past several years and performs once a month at the 9:15 AM and 11:00 AM services. The Handbell Choir joins us for the Christmas Lessons and Carols service and participates in the biennial Ontario Guild of English Handbell (OGEHR) Festival.

In support of our Music Outreach program, the Handbell Choir has also performed at local seniors’ residences and long-term care facilities.

To join the St. Peter’s Handbell Choir, members must be at least 13 years old, have the ability to read music, and be able to regularly attend the Wednesday-evening rehearsals.
